It is C.A.A.N.’s mission to use athletics and the arts as catalysts for crime preventing and combating criminal recidivism, by assisting formerly incarcerated, individuals with a criminal history, and/or are legally at-risk, with pursuing their goals of an athletic and/or artistic career, with the overriding objective of helping them succeed beyond the athletic/artistic realm and make positive contributions to their communities.
A MESSAGE FROM CAAN, INC.'S FOUNDER
"We at CAAN, Inc. believe there are 3 equally essential and interdependent components to crime prevention, which I call the 'Crime Prevention Triad.' The initial component is law enforcement; the next component is consequence and accountability, and finally, there is the third component, successful reentry and rehabilitation for former criminal offenders. This third component is the one which is the focus of our work at CAAN, Inc. Yet if any one of these 3 components of the Triad is neglected, the entire process breaks down and fails. We believe that providing hope to former criminal offenders and/or legally at-risk individuals will prevent future crime victims, because people without hope have no regard for themselves or anyone else in their communities. I therefore ask you to consider supporting our mission to fight crime. Thank you!"
